East Liberty’s Newest Retail Neighbors
When The Penn at Walnut on Highland opened last year in East Liberty, the promise was for street-level retail to join local neighborhood spots like Zeke’s Coffee, Social Status, Trim and others. While the corridor has grown in terms of residents and restaurants, retail has lagged a bit. Fast forward a year later and it looks like this stretch of storefronts is about to make a splash on Penn Ave.
Bonobos. The online mens’ shop is opening its first guideshop in PGH with one-on-one assistance to walk you through their collection of pants, shorts, shirts and more. Find the fit that is perfect for you and walk out sans bags with your purchases all shipped to you free of charge. While we know waiting isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, the gents who have sported this brand know that they are worth the wait.
HOMAGE. Add another Ohio retailer to the growing list of operations expanding into PGH that includes The Candle Lab, Bakersfield, and Condado. Joining local brands like Shop 412, Decade, Daily Bread and Steel City; this shop stocks graphic tees and gear for those looking to add to their PGH clothing collection.
Warby Parker. If you haven’t heard about these glasses (and sunnies) starting as low as $95, you need to get out more. Originally the company started as an online-only experience but quickly opened their own signature boutiques with PGH finally landing one. We expect the opening months here to be akin to an Apple store with their dedicated buyers flocking to the new outpost.
honeygrow. Honest eating + growing local is the tagline for this Philly-born cafe healthy fast casual that is set to open up later this summer. Find spicy stir-fries, seasonal salads, cold-pressed juices and fruit bowls in a modern setting complete with self-ordering tablet stations.

Choolaah. Opening around the corner from The Penn in the retail spaces at Eastside Bond is another fast casual concept, Choolaah. The fourth location in the group, the concept has been referenced as the Chipotle of Indian food featuring tandoori BBQ bowls, wraps, salads, sides and more. We say…SIGN US UP.
